Already I’ve been seeing articles about the coming stress we’ll be experiencing as Christmas draws near, and what we can do about it.

Isn’t it something – to be warned… ‘as the HOLIDAYS approach – your stress levels increase.’ Doesn’t ‘holiday’ have something to do with relaxing and de-stressing?

Maybe it’s time to stop our frenzied, manic activities during the Christmas season. We could stop spending money we don’t have on gifts for friends/relatives we seldom see. Stop spending money we don’t have on useless crap for friends/relatives who don’t want the gift, and who are now stressed and obligated to spend money they don’t have on us, for some junk we don’t want or need.

That would go a long way in reducing stress.

While we’re at it, maybe we should quit going to parties we don’t want to attend. Quit buying a new dress for every occasion where we stand around freezing (little black dress when it’s 20 below), eating and stressing about it, and wishing we were home.

Maybe we could spend some time volunteering and helping people less fortunate than ourselves.


And after that maybe we could just have a nice dinner with a few people who’s company we enjoy, and call it a day.
